Political Advocacy

REALTORS® are the watch dog when it comes to cities passing ordinances, the state and federal governments proposing laws that impact the commercial real estate profession.  We will be submitting a report on Oklahoma City's Impact Fees when they are periodically reviewed by City Council.

Political Action Committee & Super-PAC

The REALTORS® Political Action fund (RPAC) raises, from individual contributions, money to support candidates in National, State, and Local campaigns.  We also provide education and training for REALTOR® friendly candidates.  The Commercial Ally program is a Super-PAC that accepts corporate contributions for issue oriented campaigns.

Town & Gown:

Once each spring and fall we meet on the UCO campus for a continental breakfast and to network with students as potential interns.  Afterword, we attend a class for real estate CE credit.  Donations toward an endowment for the UCO Real Estate Program will be accepted.

  • Commercial Real Estate Summit (tm) - a regional networking / dealmaking event presented in the spring
  • Oklahoma Commercial Real Estate Forum (TM) - an advocacy / public policy problem solving event presented in the fall

Continuing Education

Professional CE Credit with a commercial real estate focus;  courses are typically submitted for license renewal credit to Oklahoma's Real Estate Commission, Bar Association, Real Estate Appraisal Board, Insurance Department, as well as The Council for the New Urbanism.

We have created several listing related contract documents, that complement contract for sales documents provided by OREC.  These listing documents are for the exclusive use of COCAR ™  members, and include a Listing Agreement (Short and Long forms), a referral agreement for use by REALTORS® in separate firms, confidentiality agreement covering proprietary financial information, condominium addendum to the listing agreement, and letter of intent.

COCAR™ is a Commercial Overlay Board (NAR ID 6931), that is a REALTOR® Local Board for Commercial Practitioners.  Any REALTOR® in Oklahoma  Any REALTOR® in Oklahoma or an adjoining state may easily join our trade association that exists both to provide government advocacy and to enhance the business opportunities of its members.

COCAR will only send dues/invoice statements electronically (via email). Please make sure we have your most current information on file. All dues should be paid annually in advance, on or before January 1. Dues paid are non-refundable. All dues shall be delinquent each year after January 15, at which time a $25.00 late penalty shall be applied to the delinquent dues. If dues are not paid by January 31, membership will be terminated and an additional $75.00 reinstatement fee will apply. After ten (10) days, written notice by certified mail, return receipt requested, any Member delinquent in the payment of dues and late penalty may be terminated.



Dues payments to the REALTOR® Association are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. Dues payments may, however, be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense except that portion used for lobbying activities which has been determined to be $50.00 of the National dues and $10.72 of the State dues. The entire $35 assessment related to NAR’s public awareness campaign qualifies as deductible dues.



Your 2016 dues include a $10 special assessment by the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® of all REALTOR® and REALTOR®-ASSOCIATE members to replenish the OAR Public and Legislative Awareness Fund. The fund’s purpose is to fund lobbying, consulting and other expenses on issues consistent with OAR’s Legislative Policy Agenda. Additionally, your 2016 dues includes a $35 mandatory assessment by the National Association of REALTORS® of all REALTOR and REALTOR-ASSOCIATE members to fund a nationwide public awareness campaign that includes TV network and cable ads highlighting the value a REALTOR® brings to a transaction and stressing the importance of using a REALTOR®.


Your 2016 dues also include a $5 Professional Standards assessment by the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® of all REALTOR® and REALTOR®-ASSOCIATE members to help offset the cost of providing the NAR core standards requirement that every association will maintain a viable professional standards process to enforce the Code of Ethics and provide arbitration and mediation as member services through the state association for the locals.
